Katarina Erasmie, contemporary Swedish artist, previously stationed in London, now living in Helsingborg in the South of Sweden. She works with expression, playfull
sensuality and strong colours in acrylic and oil colour, as well as collage techniques. With bits of plastic and
knife she creates relieff-like structures that enhances the vitality and force of the form.
The complexity of the compositions often gives the viewer freedom to discover more than one motive in
the same painting, and her works dwell in the sphere where abstraction and figuration meet. With a affinity
towards the abstract. She uses symbols, from the animal worlds, legends and from different cultures.
Her vigorous colours radiates joy and energy.
-My paintings are like stories, where new motives, after a while, can emerge and give the piece a new
meaning....and there is a subtle humour in the back-ground, it you want to percieve it. But, in this playful
multiplexity, I want the colours to stand clear and distinct.
