JEFFERY HILLIER - EXPECTATION/REALITY

This series of photographs re-interprets existing images to produce new, more provocative or beautiful visions by freezing chance events to provoke spontaneous images free of conscious intention. (surrealism) This series of mannequin/reflections was begun in 1973 when i was a student at the San Francisco Art Institute. It is about the wonder and confusion I was experiencing with the women in my life. The mannequins represent the expectation and the reflection, which makes the world behind me backwards, the reality. The titles are meant to be poems when read in line, as in a gallery show.
