Belle Shafir - Insitu

With Insitu Installation, Belle Shafir deals with the fundamental issue of defining the new human identity in the new age allowing scientists to meddle and control the human conception and evolvement. The romantic view of mystical and autonomic human creation and evolution processes and the Darwinistic approach are facing extinction in light of scientific progress and technologic developments. Bell Shafir's work is concerned with moral and social aspects of the new identity definition. The question arises: what is the new identity? How can it be characterized and how will it affect culture in the new society? Belle Shafir is referring to a futuristic epoch where the natural historic human evolution had ended and in its place a new identity prevails in an age of artificial human evolution.
