The Open Door (La porte ouverte) 37 x 43 inches, 109 x 94 cm Pen and Ink on paper, beautifully framed, and double white mats, crystal clear glass with almost no reflections, expensive antique silver and black frame. Inspired by Rumi’s poem "Why stay in prison when the door is wide open", this great drawing has an eye in the center, the iris being an open window through which a sail boat can be seen dancing freely on the ocean. Above is an open door in a succession of rooms hung with paintings. Below and in contrast to this constricted space, is a fantastic valley with wild plants and trees. This piece which took over six months of work is by a well known artist who was represented by the famed Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco, the first gallery in the US to show MC. Esher.
