The approach in this first of a series of drawn works is to, in a sense, reverse engineer the idea of Rooted, instead of looking towards the source of the present, to rather ask the question, "of what future are we and our present the roots?"
So this is a look at the future which we are engendering, subverting the medium of visionary architectural drawing (so popular with the founding fathers of modernism, the constructivists, futurists...) via my personal senses of irony and territory. The results are what I would call "anti-topias", otherwise "mutant landscapes".
Technique-wise they will be quite large printed digital drawings. This first work, called "On a new clear day" is in progress - what is uploaded is an intermediate, as yet monochrome version. This picture posits that our current recklessness vis-a-vis nuclear technology and waste disposal will lead to a radioactive, neo-feudal and post-capitalist world.
