This is one of a series of photographs from a Zuni sandstone formation in western New Mexico, dating to the Cretaceous (approx. 63-138 Ma).
While climbing the cliffs of this formation, I passed this many times without seeing it. Perhaps all I needed was the right combination of light, shadow, and perspective? Certainly, a striking profile.
This image is unaltered, other than some minor light and color enhancement.
