This is one of a series of photographs from a Zuni sandstone formation in western New Mexico, dating to the Cretaceous (approx. 63-138 Ma).
This image received very little enhancement. The red and purple banding in the sandstone is from iron deposition; the greens and blues are from lichen. The sensual rippling of the stone is entirely natural.
