People used social networks like Facebook and Twitter to mobilise others, organise demonstrations and to report live from events in the very moment they were happening. In a study of the Dubai School of Government, Egypt alone was reported to have more than 6.5 million Facebook users beginning of May and to "tweet" 24,000 messages every day in the first quarter of 2011.
