When outside and well away from any domestic entry, dog teams and food reserves, the pouch is opened. All the ill feelings trapped in the feathers are blown away by the winds or burned by the sun, the spirit is cleansed and freed. To prevent the pouch being used against others there is an animal tooth hidden amongst the feathers to destroy any ill will. A shaman need not be present but when in the hands of a shaman this object takes on an entirely new dimension which cannot be discussed openly. I dreamed of this pouch, I have never seen such an object. It is very cathartic.
