Michael Ulrich - Brooklyn Fishing
Design, Zeichnung, Mischtechnik, Druckgrafik
So this past week, I had been in Manhattan at the Beached Whale listenin' to old salty party boat captains out of Brooklyn. They were braggin' about how they would catch the biggest basses ever in the East River on the Brooklyn side. They even said there were a few times they had to throw back 50 pounders 'cause they were the runts! The captains were all whisperin' this fishing area is the best kept secret in Brooklyn because of the mixture of the salt and fresh water within the manmade reefs of dumped subway cars and taxis. Plus, there is an abundance of food for them from all the old hotdogs and pretzels that get tossed in the river. The bass had gotten so big and out of control that they chased away the Navy at the old Brooklyn piers!
Myself and my fearless chick, Stephanie, set sail to Brooklyn in our row boat. Our fishin' did not go as smoothly as planned. The bass where huge and they had attitudes. One bass that took my bait was the toughest bass I ever fought! Well, actually, it wasn't really a fight at all. See, what happened was, it swam towards me as fast as the Q train on the Manhattan Bridge. This crazy bass then dove inside my boat, slapped my fishing pole out of my hand and started to eat my lunch! Before I knew it, a bunch of his pals surrounded our boat and started tossin' all our gear into the river! They were rantin' that we weren't from Brooklyn and shouldn't be there! Suddenly, a few more popped out of the water threatenin' us and tellin' us if we fell in the water, they'd be sure to give us special shoes!
I think next time we will get a local guide!
