When I was working on this painting, I noticed how long the kids fingers were, and that's where the title comes from. It's laso a good way to point up what's been lost by turning him into a soldier. I've cut the gun out, because you can take the gun away from the child, but I don't believe you can ever replace what the gun has taken away.
