These digital images are created by scanning woven shredded paper from a piece created for an exhibition in Honolulu last summer. It is part of a larger series entitled "Shreds" which comes from the idea of trees becoming paper, which becomes junk mail, newspapers, magazines, grocery bags, and offers for credit cards, etc. Some of this paper is then shredded in order to avoid identity theft. I have re-created trees from these shreds as well as works of art to honor the trees we cut.
