Alexandra Debodjoya - VANITES
Malerei
When I read these words: «London Calling» I obviously think to the mythic Clash’s Album in 1979. I dive into the english rock and roll history: Sex-Pistols, Alice Cooper, David Bowie or Rolling Stones...all of them using skulls as iconography. I want to bring in London my own energy through my skull paintings, giving back to the english rock music a part of what it brought to me as inspiration source.
Beyond the skeleton estheticism what fascinates me in the skulls is the abyssal dimension I find in the emptiness of their black holes, dark celestial bodies which attract me and in which I find tracks of melancholic stars, died suns having switched off their lights.
I love to shred a new light in these cold areas when I add the teeth to the skull, residues of alabaster, small shining jewels hung on the walls of a cave.
Emerging from the darkness I come back to the hurly-burly of the colors in the background of the skull until this later is eaten by them but never disappear. No end without any beginning no beginning without any end. Debodjoya calling London ...anybody there ..... ????
