The story continues. After her wicked husband killed the woman/dog she was eaten by a wolf and became the wolf itself who in turn after it died of old age entered the body of a caribou. She was happy as an Inuk Tuttuk although still hunted, her life on the lichen covered plains was heaven compared to her life as a woman. However, food became scarce and she became weak, unable to keep up with the herd. The lichen had become scarce and the herd was forced to wander longer distances to nourish itself.
A study has been launched to determine the shocking decline in the caribou populations of Labrador, Canada. Global warming is a major culprit allowing other vegetation to grow and suffocate the lichen. It is very sad and worrying for my family there.
