When I’m extremely depressed, I can’t practice meditation or positive thinking.
It comes across as manipulative propaganda. The emotional dissidence is impossibly vast — maybe like a leader in a brutal re-education camp bombarding you with crazy ideas like horror is really a positive thing. It seems so insensitive, dishonest and cruel. Further isolation sets in and people give up because they think you’re not trying enough.
This is not choice, this is an illness. I have found that focusing on being curious helps until I can consider the possibility of positive thinking. Curiosity is the precursor to positive treatment
