George Cabig ( Philippines )
Art Digital; Mode; Photographie
To appreciate real and natural beauty, trekking across the country’s breathtaking landscapes and traversing the richest seas, is all it takes to tear away the sullied reputation that comes with being a Third World country. Picture-perfect sceneries, unique cultural activities, and exotic animals are only a few of the Philippines’ finest offerings—treasure that award-winning photographer (and self-proclaimed nationalist) George Cabig loves to capture with his camera. For more than two decades Cabig has been clicking away, creating fine art images of people and places for the country’s top organizations, including Caltex Philippines, Kawasaki, Equitable Bank, Benguet Corporation, Department of Tourism, and Shoe Mart; and for magazines like Ahead (Bankard), Design and Architecture, Blue Collar, Mac Quarterly, Horizon, In-Golf, The Business Daily, The Big C, and Mabuhay (the in-flight magazine of Philippine Airlines). Top writers have featured his photos in some of their books: The Filipinos: A Portrait of the People, 20th Century Filipino Artists, Makati, Pasay, Guide to Collecting Arts (books by Manny Duldulao), Nick Joaquin's Philippines: Manifold Land, Action Asia's Trekking Guide to the Philippines and Philippine Normal University’s centennial books (by Achilles Mina). His work takes him to different towns and environments, wellsprings of the powerful images he brings back to his archives as proofs of the breadth of his profession and the depth of his experience as a photographer.
