Yeşil was born in 1954 in Mersin, where he attended middle and high school. In 1972, he suffered a disorder which deprived him of the ability to walk. Encouraged by the artists Nuri Abaç, İlhan Çevik and the sculptor Ernür Tüzün, he turned to painting, and received instruction from these teachers. Quickly finding his artistic direction, Yeşil chose picture as a way of life and devoted all of his time to it. Working non-stop in his private studio in Mersin, the artist took part in collective, solo and competitive exhibitions across Turkey. A special interest and love for his home city resulted in a series of works in 1988 entitled, “The Old Houses of Mersin.”
Yeşil’s works are to be found in the private collections of the Ministries of Culture and of Finance, the General Directorate of Monopolies, Ziraat Bankası, Akbank, Şekerbank, the General Directorates of Vakıfbank and of the National Lottery, the Educational Foundation Museum of D. Y. O., the Ankara Museum of Picture and Sculpture, the Körfez Municipality Museum, the Balıkesir Municipality Museum of Devrim Erbil, Istanbul’s Ramko Sanat Merkezi, the Collections of the Republican Presidency, the Collections of Eczacıbaşı, the Museum of Cumhuriyet Journal, The Ugur Mumcu Foundation Collection, the Governorships of Adana, Antalya, Ordu and Mersin, and such foreign countries as Germany, Great Britain, Canada and the United States. The artist is a member of the International Plastic Arts Association and of the Ankara United Artists and Sculptors. To the present time, he participated in 75 solo and 279 collective and/or competitive exhibitions.
