Rita Stashulionak
Never looking for easy solutions, Rita Stashulionak makes her way as a full-time artist. Born in 1980 in Minsk, Belarus, graduate of Belarusian Academy of Arts works with oil, watercolor and egg tempera painting, illustration, art-object, and scenography. After spending two years as a teaching fellow at her alma mater, she continued for one more year as instructor to lead painting classes. Among her subsequent professional achievements, one should mention a six-month residency in Cracow via The Polish Ministry of Culture's Gaude Polonia Scholarship Programme and a two-month residency in Brasil at The Instituto Sacatar. Her paintings can be found in private collections, galleries across Europe and America, and in the Museum of Modern Art, Minsk.
Rita is one of a few contemporary artists implementing an ancient technique of egg tempera on gesso on board. This time-consuming technique allows her to create rich and detailed parallel worlds on rather small surfaces emanating with lyricism and beauty. Although her artwork is frequently inspired by art of divergent origins and styles, it speaks a universal language.
