Painter, draughtsman, musician (music on my
cultureinside blog). Born in Bedford, England, 1979.
Somethings that come to mind when I think about my work: The gaps inbetween. Brushmarks and texture. The feel of certain paints. Cadmium orange. Reds and browns. Contradictions. Painting on wood or raw canvas. A smooth gesso surface. From memory or life. A photo. My surroundings. Experimenting and process. Drawing and mark making. Scrubbing and scratching out. Erasing. Starting again.
I like to experient with paint in small abstract squares, taking brushmarks from art historical sources to start me on a journey that can go anywhere but is built on a relation ship between paint, brush and surface and the possibilities therein.
Another side of my work is very autobiographical; paintings of the people around me, memories, experiences. Things and people that have affected me come out in my work.
