Korkut Ulug

Born in 1945, Ankara. Graduated from Istanbul Technical University, as an electrical engineer with MSc degree. Painting since 1985. He is interested in philosophy as well as art philosophy and current, modern physics, soufism and zen buddhism.
Several of his paintings are today collections of the Çanakkale Military Museum and the Ministry of Culture, and also private collections.

For a long time he painted landscapes and portraits. His recent paintings are about the National Independence Army in 1919 and about the Gallipoli War in 1915, which is one of the most bloody war in history between Turks and English, French and also ANZAC powers.

In this series of paintings, he emphasized humanistic behavior between fine brave young man who respected their enemies defending the peace in despite of the war which distinguishes the Gallipoli War from the other wars.

Now, he has been working on a large paint series of portraits of Mustafa Kemal ATATURK, the founder of the modern state of Turkey. He was one of the greatest political and historical leader of the 20th century fighting against western and inner forces and created a modern Turkish Republic.
