Irene Molina Born in México. Lives in California, USA. My latest experience with Mixed Media Art was unexpected to me. I was undergoing a very hard medical treatment, and I started loosing my hair. One day when I was in the shower and started to clean my fallen hair, I was very sad and started to play with the hair, then I imagined a figure, tried to make it and I came out with the "Dancing" drawing. As I was sad about this I decided to make something useful out of my situation. I liked it and continued to make more when I had the strength to do it. I am in the process of transformation and developing my own way of communicating through art, to express what I feel and cannot say... to move and make the audience think about my perception of the world. As I am retaking my art, my new work is more open and diverse, I am experiencing with all sort of diverse media and materials, installations, and “al fresco” techniques. Since I was a teenager I always felt driven toward drawing and especially painting, but I never took my art seriously before in my life, it was more like a hobby. Coming from a very traditionalist Hispanic background family, I was influenced by the idiosyncrasy that art was not a “real career”, therefore I set aside my artistic aspirations to pursue a degree in Biochemistry Engineering, but I was continuously taking painting classes on the side. I love nature and people, everywhere I look I find interesting and beautiful things; I am curious and intrigued by everyday little details. I am a life spectator looking for beauty in everything; even the simplest things tell me something abut life itself, then a lot of ideas came to my mind, thoughts that brings me messages about the nature of life, my hopes, and aspirations. I interpret them as symbols that talk to me through people, places, things, situations, scenes or just little fragments of life itself. I find especially important to express the importance of the woman role in the world.
