Statement

I am a self taught visual artist.  I decided to become an artist in 1990 after studying  abstract art and the modernist painters. I see my work as Re -modernist and as  a form of communication in which I express and convey ideas and emotions from within my subconscious and my imagination. My intention is to share this experience and also to stimulate an emotional response from the viewer. I try to create images that are bright, bold,exciting and thought provoking.
I do not use any formal plans or preconceived ideas. Each new work is started by making some basic marks which are applied instinctively. More marks are added as a response to these. As the piece progresses, it increasingly builds a sense of form and structure according to its own rules. This method continues until I feel that the piece “works” and is complete.
