“A hybrid mix of Sophie Calle and Vito Acconcci” – Lisa Radford, Artist
“The love child of Bill Henson and Tracey Emin” – Kate Just, Artist and lecturer
My current practice encompasses installation, photography, text, light, sound and video.
My work draws on specific moments/experiences/memories from my life, translating these into personal spaces for the viewer to physically and emotionally engage with.
Much of my work focuses on connection and intimacy within domestic relationships and environments.
I am interested in exploring the beauty that can exist within everyday experiences and drawing the audience’s attention to imagery that is often over looked.
Through representation of the personal I aim to create a universal and common experience that most people can relate to.
In 2006 I was involved in the organisation and also exhibited in “PARKED!!” a student run group exhibition in Collingwood Underground Arts Park, where the show was awarded the “Fringe Festival Award for Visual Arts” (2006).
This year I participated in the 46th “Do It” exhibition an ongoing international art project initiated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, which took place at the Margaret Lawrence Gallery, Melbourne. The aim of this project was to contact an artist that you admire and get them to send you a set of instructions and you create an artwork out of them. I managed to contact Tracey Emin and have since continued a personal relationship with her.
I recently exhibited in, group show ‘Separately Together’ at Platform Art Space (under Flinders St train station). For the exhibition I created site-specific installations for 4 of the large cabinets.
