Born in Covilhã, Portugal, Carlos Clara studied painting first in Lisbon and later in New York at Art Students League. At the age of 18 he started exhibiting his paintings in group shows and later in one man show. He exhibited in Portugal, Switzerland and Thailand.

He works and lives in Portugal.
