Rhys Wescott
In my current work, I aim to capture an intimate moment with my subjects, and strive to convey personality and interactive presence. Each painting is a window into the overlooked phenomena in daily life. I paint my subjects engaged in mundane rituals to capture a poetic or poignant rapport. By interpreting the quirkiness of their body language, I delineate facets of characters that add distinction to humanity. Exploring the visual phenomena of paint to describe the uneasiness in human gestures, I expose the way the handling of a cup or the gesture of a mouth can provide a comforting, or anxious segment of the quotidian.
