In my pictures I work with classical picture elements in metamorphoses.
The basic element might be a superellipse,
the blade of an ancient battle-axe,
the old egyptian symbol hart/psyche
or a shape from classical Greece.
The element can stand alone and classically straight
or might be broken down, transformed and multiplied.
The good shape is like a signal through the ages,
it retains its qualities from century to century.
Piet Hein calculated the superellipse in the 20th century,
but japanese artists outlined the same shape "by eye" 200 years earlier.
The hart/psyche vessel of the Egyptians have an age of severtal thousand years,
but feels distinctly modern.
The strong shape is my momentous tool, clearly defined
and with an aesthetical substance
over and beyond time,
