I paint portraits on commission , either in a contemporary manner, or in the style of the old Masters. i enjoy working in both these manners.
I also paint portraits of people who never did get painted- for their families, usually, a description or photos supplied, often the resemblance to someone in the present generation is a good help. I use the style, clothing and setting appropriate the the period. This is something I derive enormous satisfaction from, creating a beautiful visual memory , giving someone back his or her place in our world, if only on the manor walls......see my Gallery of "Portraits à l'Ancienne"
i will also paint copies of old masters on command, very closely, or loosely, as the client would like it. If requested i can put someone into the painting, generally in the place of an existing figure or face.If I don't feel the request will make a good painting, I will not do it.
i keep a small stock of paintings made just for the pleasure, for fun, or because i needed to paint them.
I greatly enjoy Illustrating, particularly fantasy or children's books, in realistic, or very romantic styles, or in comic line, with or without colour.
